Ok, here is what I'm thinking...
In order to prevent me having to reposition my hand to the mouse pointer in order to select [Examine], being able to simply use the Search hot-key would be awesome. This is my primary request. I would then only need to use the pointer as an 'interact' for specific loot picks from drop tables, viewing other players, initiating NPC dialogue and features that are fixed on map i.e. campfires, Christmas tree... So, when in grind mode, both my hands are comfortably in a set position throughout.
I kinda think that which effects 'detect' skill with a 'success' indicator (piles) should be limited to Search, where currently it uses both Pick Up & Search. Keeping the process the same thereafter - [Examine] > table of contents > close window to have loot fall, then acting as per any loot drop. Combined with any additional monster loot at same position, showing a combined/modified table of contents at each viewing. So, if I were to move onto a pile and drop it's contents, not pick up any, kill monster respawns (at same position) for a while, then choosing to view all contents at that position (pile + monster drops) on one modified table. If I was suddenly limited by weight/inventory space I could pick specific loot to take, then close window and move on, or spam pick up for everything. *Reasons for using Search exclusively on piles: 1. Can act as a safe-guard of going through the examination steps until ready to do so. Vulnerable to attack during that time. 2. Dealing with smaller loot tables by dividing tasks. 3. Going straight to search over pick-up, makes more sense on a role-play level, depending of course on the type of search-able spawns in future maps. **Overall, limiting to Search would be more of a nice-touch than anything.
[Take all] - Now with this idea... let's scrap it... retain value of 'Loot Collector'.
